World Down Syndrome Day 2009
On Saturday, 21st March 2009, The Canterbury UPP Club were invited to attend a celebration for the World Down Syndrome Day, held at the South Brighton Community Centre. There was going to be a Games, Dinner, Disco & Supper night. More than 30 people attended this lively event and it turned out to be a 'fabulous' night.
Everyone wore their disco costumes and dancing shoes to impress the crowds of people. Some of the parents who came along brought their children with them to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. The Canterbury UPP Club youth workers came along as well.
When we arrived we had pizza for dinner from Pizza Hut and the staff provided the soft drinks and hot drinks for the parents and staff. Some of the disco music, which was played on the night, was Mamma Mia, songs based on Abba, and High School Musical 3.
At the start of the World Down Syndrome Day there were three instructors who talked about the golf dinner and where it is to be held. They spoke about the auctions, the members who are competing in a golf competition and how much the dinner is to cost. Afterwards we were on the dance floor dancing to some music. Some of the songs we recognized were Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Waterloo and It's Raining Mad. Then we had a very yummy supper. Some of the food eaten was lollie cake, chocolate and sultana muffins, truffles, pizza, chips, popcorn and there were other foods as well.

We would like to acknowledge Martin Nicholls and the CDSA Committee for organising the Games, Dinner, Disco & Supper night and the World Down Syndrome Day.
We also would like to thank everyone who came along to supported The World Down Syndrome Day and the Canterbury UPP Club. "Everyone had a great time and they were about to dance off the night, we had a great and fabulous night!"
